"SciTech to Provide Customers with Enterprise Level Display Driver
Solutions for HP Compaq Business Desktop PCs"
========================
Chico, California -- (June 16, 2003) -- SciTech Software, Inc., a leading
supplier of enterprise level graphics driver solutions, today announced
their OS/2 solutions will be available to HP Compaq Business PC D530
customers. SciTech's latest device driver technology, SciTech SNAP
Graphics will be placed in the heart of HP's OS/2 based enterprise HP
Compaq business desktop systems, and ensures that customers will benefit
from the latest Intel graphics chipsets.
"SciTech is able to deliver, to HP customers, potent solutions to market
faster, and more cost effectively than ever before" said Andrew Bloo,
Director of Sales & Marketing, for SciTech Software Inc. "SciTech
continues to show that it is deeply committed to the adoption of new and
improved technologies that have the ability to better serve its
customers."
SciTech will provide select models of the HP Compaq business desktop PC
D530 with a custom edition of SciTech's leading graphics driver solution,
SciTech SNAP Graphics for OS/2. This will provide HP's OS/2 customers with
SciTech certified graphics systems, as well as support for the latest
Graphics chip from Intel.
"By providing SciTech's high quality SNAP graphics video drive solution,
HP can offer customers OS/2 support, a key attribute many customers find
important when making new hardware purchases," said Keith Martin, Software
Marketing Manager, HP Personal Systems Group.
SciTech SNAP Graphics offers superior performance and a higher-level
stability than any other solution currently available. By allowing
customers to select only the features they wish, driver complexity can be
greatly reduced, long-term support issues are minimized, and time to

Hi everyone, I released a new version of web/2, check it out @http://dink.org/web2/
"Web/2 is a native OS/2 web server, written in Pascal and is freeware and
incredible small (the size of the executable I use is only 42k)."
neatutils were updated also, see http://dink.org/neatutils.htm
"Compilation of various utilities, including whois, speed (displays
realtime statistics on an ethernet interface), sock (shows a list of
opened sockets) and others."

Netlabs Fat32 driver
I have been working on a Warpin install for the Netlabs fat32 driver.
Adrian finally has found time to upload it so others can download it.
ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/fat32/fat32_94b_netlabs.wpi
In this release, EXTENDED ATTRIBUTE support is enabled. If you don't want
EA support, you will have to manually edit your config.sys and remove the
/EAS from the
IFS=G:\OS2\BOOT\FAT32.IFS /EAS /Q /CACHE:2048
Warpin is not setup to allow people to select options or I would have
given people the option.
Mike, this is a later version than the one I sent you.
Someone asked what is different about this one compared to Henk's driver.
It is my understanding that you no longer have to boot to Windows to
perform any chkdsk. However, this is what I was told on one of the
forums. So far, with every crash, this fat32 chkdisk has worked.

For easy detection of several (eComstation/OS2) installation problems some
interesting additions heve been made to the PART display that:
- Will identify THREE different IBM bootmanagers correctly
1) The original one, created by FDISK, no I13X, no LVM
2) The updated FDISK one, now including I13X but no LVM
3) The one created by LVM, including I13X and of course LVM
- WARNING if a bootable partition requires I13X to boot, but
either the installed BMGR of the MBR code does NOT support that
- Warning if primary 'active' partition beyond cylinder 1023
is present and the MBR does not support I13X
- Int-13 limit (cylinder 1023) for BIOS is shown at DFSee startup
together with a short description of the detected MBR-code
DFSee is the SWISS-ARMY-KNIFE for disk and filesystem problems. With
FDISK-like displays, analysis and recovery, FIX commands, UNDELETE for
HPFS/NTFS, imaging and cloning. More details at:

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/dfsee523.zip
Most important functional changes:
- PART Detect 3 different versions of BMGR: FDISK/I13X/LVM
- PART Format "none" = unformatted, "unknown" = unrecognized
- PART -w Minor warning for IBM BMGR when it is not W2K protected
- Startup of DFSee or DFSUNFD/DFSTART scripts use "FDISK -m" now
- DFSIBMGR Fixed bug for disk other than 1, allow different name
- PART Warning when MBR or BMGR has no I13X while required
- TYPE Types 0x8a/8e/a8/ab/bb/fa/fb/fc/fd now recognized
- TYPE XOSL bmgr 0x78 type recognized now (in PART cmd too)
- LVM -n Do not update disk/sector if it is no LVM-sector yet
- LVM -c Skip CRC update for non-LVM sectors (non-LVM partitions)
- PART -s Added display of (old) BMGR-name, even when "--> LVM"
- CHECK Does not set RC to #errors anymore, better for scripts
- DISK/MAP Added System Commander MBR code recognition / display
- PART/MAP Display INT13 1023 cylinder limit with the '-m' option
- SET Added "set ASC 7/8" for 7-bit or 8-bit ascii output
- TxWin Updated codepage-437/850 compatibility for TxWindows
- TxWin Refined Windows NT/W2K/XP version if no servicepacks
Check DFS*.TXT files for details, all changes listed in DFSHIST.TXT
Registering DFSee will give you the right to use all 5.xx versions and get
support plus a reasonable amount of assistance by email. Existing 4.xx
registrations can be upgraded to 5.xx as well.
But even more important, it enables further development of DFSee!
