Tickets for Warpstock Europe 2001 are now available!
The Warpstock Europe 2001 Event Team is pleased to announce that tickets
for the upcoming OS/2 Warp and eComStation IT-conference are now available
for online purchase. You can buy your Warpstock Europe tickets and
register for the event using a secure online registration system from
Mensys BV.
To buy tickets online and register for Warpstock Europe 2001 go to http://shop.mensys.nl/catalogue/mns_WarpStockEurope2001.html
"We have made a special effort to make attending Warpstock Europe 2001
very affordable for everyone", says Team Coordinator John Bijnens. "If
people register now using the online registration system they will save
money and benefit from substantial discounts" John explains, "and in some
cases online purchase will save them up to 30% compared to when the
tickets are bought on site at the registration desk".
Thanks to the Dutch HCC, main sponsor of this year's event, there will be
free entrance to Warpstock Europe 2001 for all HCC members upon display of
their current membership card at the registration desk. For students, a
special discount is available.
For everyone else, a standard registration including tickets for three
days costs 700 BF, which is less than 17.5 Euro and a one day ticket is
only 300 BF or less than 7.5 Euro. "That's really cheap compared to most
other IT-conferences of this kind" says Team member Christian Langanke,
"especially considering the added value of three days packed with
professional level lectures." And it get's even better because attendees
will receive a free CD-ROM containing the complete content of the
conference lectures.
Several registration schemes exist to accommodate everyone's needs.
Tickets can be purchased for one, two or three days with a special
discount for students, upon display of their current student ID card at
the registration desk. All registration options are available on the
Mensys web site and should fit both students or IT-professionals, one-day
visitors or people coming from abroad to stay the whole three days of the
event. For those who don't want to use the on line registration system, on
site registration will be available at the conference.
The Warpstock Europe 2001 Conference will be held on November 2-4, 2001 at
the 'KH Limburg' College near Hasselt, Belgium. Warpstock Europe is an
annual gathering of developers, vendors and users of the OS/2 and
eComStation operating systems, for the purpose of education, providing
information and support to everyone with an interest in these operating
systems or related technology. More information is available at the
Warpstock Europe web site http://warpstock.os2.org
PM-CRC32
An SFV CRC checker for OS/2 PM. (used for checking of files , if they are
transfered correctly or not. mostly for RAR files, since RAR does not
build checksums over each file).
SFV files are very common by downloading VCD's from FTP servers.

DFSee 4.04 released
DFSee is an FDISK-like display, analysis and recovery tool with powerfull
FIX commands and UNDELETE for HPFS and NTFS. It is a command-line and
text-only utility (no GUI). This allows usage from simple boot-diskettes
for recovery. The package includes an OS/2, Win-NT and DOS version.
DFSee can be downloaded from my web-site, but after evaluation, and for
all real use you are required to get a registration. It can be purchased
from the Mensys online shop for about US $18.
Details can be found at: http://www.fsys.demon.nl/dfsee.htm
Version 4.04 updates and fixes:
- Fixed trap and added msg for HPFS 'CHECK' bad codepage sectors - Added
some important sectors to DFSUNFD logfile
- Added 'last accessed sector' to some critical error messages - Reduced
DFSMDOS.EXE memory usage by 60Kb (compared to 4.03)
Registering DFSee will give you the right to use all 4.xx versions and get
support plus a reasonable amount of assistance by email.
But even more important, it enables further development of DFSee! The next
major change for DFSee will be multiple UNDO/REDO ...

ZxMail announce special academic pricing
I remember not having that much money when I was a student, and I want to
encourage students to use OS2, I am announcing a special academic pricing
for students. as long as ZxMail is used for personal use, and that you are
a registered student you will be able to use ZxMail basic 10 user license
for 10$US which is 25$ off the regular price. but you must send me the
appropriate information. So if you are interested please contact me at
elavoie@zeryx.com
Furthermore I am releasing a free 2 users license, the license info will
be posted in the following days.
n.b. I was made aware of a key generator circulating that provides an
unlimited number of user license for ZxMail, those users that have used
this will find that ZxMail stops working if such a key was used, so please
encourage OS2 software development, and stop using such tools.
Psion & OS/2 as a development paltform
As it has been said - OS/2 is a good development plarform and also good as
a cross-patform. If anyone is interested in porting cross-patform
delopment tools for Psion, let me know. Or perhaps somebody has it done ?

F 4.5h beta released
On September 29th, Duy Nguyen and Michel Normand have released version
4.5h beta of F, the Swiss army knife of file managers. F is a freeware
text-mode multi-platform application. Supported operating systems are
OS/2, AIX, BSD, Linux, and Win32.
F is not only a very configurable file manager, but also offers an FTP/FXP
client, an editor with syntax-highlighting, numerous tools for developers,
simple e-mail and news clients, as well as small HTTP and FTP servers. F
comes with its own FFP (F to F protocol) for file transfers and remote
file execution, providing services for remote administration. Note that
the interface is keyboard-only.
This is mainly a bugfix release. New features include virtual file system
(VFS) support without the need for external helpers for disk images (DSK)
and ISO CD images. Currently, you can't change the files, but files can be
extracted and viewed using F's internal viewer.
