New kernels updates 20020516
New kernels updates dated 16 may 2002 can be find at IBM testcase. As
always, the mission to upgrade your kernel, should you accept it, is all
on your own and everyone will decline everything should anything nasty

[Moderator's note: As always these are not officially supported by IBM

comp.os.os2.bugs on usenet. Also note that files are only on IBM's
testcase for 2-3 days, so if you want to try these get them now. Make
certain you back up any files replaced and don't try these on a production

This contains fixes since xr_e002/xr_m015/mcp/acp. Important note: If you
use the OS/2 SES facility, you need a new sesdd32.sys dated April 2001 or
later to use this kernel. Also, a matching dump formatter (df_ret.exe),
provided separately, is required, if you want to analyze a dump from this
kernel. Finally, note that os2ldr is only required for the >64mb memory
detection mentioned below.
Following are some recent changes with these kernels:
***New as of 2002/04/16: I'm including an updated os2dump module, because
the one that comes with mcp2/acp2 can possibly OVERWRITE your
partition(s)! If you plan to use standalone dump and you have mcp2 or
acp2, use this! Caveat: This os2dump will *not* work on non-LVMized
systems (i.e. Warp 4+ FP13-16). On the other hand, the bad os2dump wasn't
distributed for FP13-16.

Note: JR15038 from 0416 temporarily removed, as I think it was

New SysInfo/2 build (0.8.14)
New SysInfo/2 build - 0.8.14 is uploaded to Hobbes.
New futures and bugfixes are:
- Some new devices&vendors were added to PCI.INI (many new from

- Add PCI.INI file checking to avoid SysInfo/2 start with empty PCI.INI;

First Open Watcom 0.8.0 source code release!!
Today is a great day! We have just uploaded the first source code archive
release of the Open Watcom Project! We have called this version of the
code the 0.8.0 release, since we can't consider it the 1.0 release until
all the code is there and it can compile with the Watcom 11.0c compiler.
To date nearly all of the code under the \bld directory is there, along
with batch files to set up build environments for Windows and OS/2
machines. Some stuff is missing (noteably all the Fortran source code),
but it will be committed to the Open Watcom tree over the next few weeks.
Also some source files could well have been broken during the process of
attaching the Open Watcom project copyright header information. If you
find any broken files, please let us know!
Also although you cannot simply run a full build right now, you can
pretty much go into any directory and run 'wmake' with the 11.0c compiler
installed on your machine (once you copy edit the \setvars.bat file of
course!) on most projects and they will build. Naturally there are many
dependencies on libraries etc, but it is easy enough to see which library
it is requiring, CD to that directory and run wmake in that directory
also. Eventually of course we will have the full build system working so
that you can just say 'go' and it will all build ;-)
But the good news is that the source code has arrived! This is a *HUGE*
amount of source code that has been released. This ZIP files contains
over 18,000 source code files totalling nearly 78MB of just source code
(no binaries!). It compresses down to about 28MB for the current ZIP file
archive, and includes source code for so many things it would be
difficult to list them all (just think, compiler, linker, assembler,
editor, IDE, debugger, POSIX command line tools and much more!). Also
note that included is full source code to the DEC Alpha compiler, which
we built and quickly tested a week or so ago and it produced working code
that ran under Windows NT 4.0 on a DEC Alpha machine ;-)
Remember, this is a *LOT* of source code. If you are not willing to get
your hands dirty figuring things out for yourself, don't bother
downloading the code. We can't answer 50,000 emails about how to compiler
Open Watcom, and won't. So use at your own risk. But most of all:

Hi everyone i updated zxmail to version 1.2.2
Release 1.2.0 and .1 were fixes for a stack overflow.
New in this release:
Modified: behavior, if an mx entry is not found the server is tried
directly. Fixed: Fixed an intermittent problem when connecting to an SMTP
session a socket error wold happen. Added: Rexx filtering, for smtp data
command, smtp connection, and pop3 client (external mailbox) Modified:
SMTP behavior when a size limit is specified, when the limit is reached,
the file stopped being written. Modified: RxSpamCheck, modifed the
parameter list you can specify which to spam server to use from the
supported list. Fixed: If error occurred on RCPT command on fetching
external mailbox, a trap occurred. Fixed: SMTP transmit errors on server
when a multi line reponse would exceed 1000 bytes the delivery would fail,
with line too long error. Modified: Pop3 invalid login were not logged,
now logged with ip address and username used. Added: ZxAddDest to add a
destination email address to an smtp message in smtp.flt and smtpdata.flt
Fixed: a timezone issue, it now check if the timezone has been reset by
the system or another app. Added: Log level to specify how much to log.
The help has not been updated yet, will find time soon.
For those that downloaded v1.2.0 we recommend to update to this version.

- The operation of the "Import" command switch has been changed. RexxMail
no longer deletes the existing contents of the "Addresses" folder before

This build also fixes a problem in the previous release:
- the "/makecwmf" command failed and caused the WPS to hang on some

Changes:
- Added "MakeCWMF" command switch to add CWMailFile-compatible extended
attributes to existing, "old-style" message files.
- Aded "Recurse" settings string/command switch to recurse into
subdirectories when used in combination with a command switch that accepts
wildcards.
- The built-in POP3 routine to collect mail from a POP3 server now aborts
if another instance of RexxMail on the same system is already collecting
mail from the POP3 server for the same user, preventing access error
reports from the POP3 server.
- Boolean command-line switches (like "/recurse") no longer require a
value specification. A bare Boolean switch implies "Y[es]"/"1".
- A Netscape address book conversion program, Ns2RxMl.CMD, has been added.

OS/2 EnDIVE Project
Many years ago IBM was designed DIVE infrastructure to provide OS/2 game
and multimedia applications with fast graphics. IBM also take attention
about accelerated hardware features, like color-space conversion or
scaling, and develop needed interface to allow using this hardware
features in DIVE applications.
But, as many OS/2 features, this is very poorly documented feature, so
most HW vendors does not made needed drivers...
Today most OS/2 users take advantage of Scitech's Display Doctor universal
video driver, it does not support EnDIVE functionality, but it's
relatively easy to add needed extensions.
The main goal of this project - provide modern motion video players, like
WarpVision, with accelerated YUV->RGB color conversion and scaling.
Current project status is public beta, so you can download latest build
and test it with your hardware. Check "Supported Chips" page to find
current supporting status of your graphics card.

Command line 32-bit RAR 3.00 for DOS and OS/2
It is 32-bit RAR version for DOS and OS/2. Unlike 16-bit RAR/DOS it is
able to create archives using dictionaries larger than 64KB. This version
is the command line only, full screen mode is not supported. It can work
under OS/2 as native OS/2 application handling long names and extended
attributes. It also understands long file names when executing in Win95/98
DOS box, but if you need a command line RAR for Windows, it is strongly
recommended to use the native Win32 console rar.exe from WinRAR package,
which has better performance in Win32 environment.

Mozilla for OS/2 (Warpzilla) RC2 fixes available
I have made the first batch of RC2 fixes available at:

This fixes three problems:
1. 4.61 Mail does not migrate properly
2. Drag and drop does not work
3. Protocol handlers not working because of spaces in the parameters
Just replace the appropriate DLL.

Mozilla for OS/2 (Warpzilla) RC2 is up
Official RC2 is up.
It has two fixes above the branch - nsTranform2D (off by 1 pel stuff) and
new protocol/helper application code.
The new helper application code allows you to specify mime.types files.
IT shouldn't have any effect on anyone right now.

DFSee is the SWISS-ARMY-KNIFE for disk and filesystem problems. With
FDISK-like displays, analysis and recovery, FIX commands, UNDELETE for
HPFS/NTFS and imaging and cloning.
