Win95key is an utility that enable windoze keys on your keyboard. This is 2.0
version (beta but looks stable;) with many new features such as support for almost
any keyboards and keys and plugin-based architecture. I'm also looking for somebody
who'll write a configuration tool for it.
RexxMail, an OS/2 WPS mail client written in REXX, is currently receiving the
final touches to its information and installation modules before its release to
the OS/2 community, hopefully some time soon.
I started RexxMail long ago because I did not like UltiMail, and at the time
there was simply nothing else on offer. I wanted an easily adaptable mail message
processor that would make full use of the facilities offered by that invaluable
invention, the OS/2 Workplace Shell. What started as a motley collection of CMD
files has gradually been consolidated into a single module offering a range of mail
processing services. Time to publish, I thought.
RexxMail is based on the concept that each mail message file is an object in
its own right, as the WPS intends it to be. It uses only the standard range of WPS
facilities, including normal folders and templates and the extended attributes and
program associations system, to control the behaviour of mail message objects. The
result is an easy to use, fully drag ~drop enabled, object-oriented, system-wide,
highly flexible, mail message processing system.
The purpose of RexxMail is to manage outgoing and incoming mail messages while
they reside on the user's system. The actual transmission and reception of messages
through network connections (using the SMTP/POP/IMAP protocols) is left to separate
programs, e.g. sendmail.
RexxMail features include:
- drag ~drop all over the place - fully configurable looks -- uses only standard
WPS objects - use your favourite text editor/reader - use message file objects wherever
you like - message objects show header info and message status - start outgoing
messages from templates - simply drop outgoing attachments into a folder - incoming
attachments are presented as separate file objects - automatic ZIP compression of
outgoing mail attachments - automatic virus scan of incoming mail attachments -
address book folder import/export function - automatic storage of processed messages
in any folders you like - extensive information provided in HTML format - full command
line interface - it's REXX, so you get the full source code
RexxMail is non-intrusive: it adds no DLLs, and it does not alter system files.
It has a dummy tryout mode that will let you "send" and "receive"
messages to and from yourself without using the network, and without upsetting an
existing mail system. Also, it's compact: thanks to the OS/2 WPS, it takes only
50 (yes, fifty) kilobytes of REXX code to do all this (and more).
Oh, and it's free, of course.

This Enhancer adds new features to the OS/2 operating system such as the ability
to:
* move an image into all windows by means of mouse or keys,
* change frames for all windows,
* extend your workplace by new "Rooms" around the Desktop,
* define keys to perform various actions,
* attach any network drive or FTP folder from file dialogs,
* manage the priority for some applications,
* remove items from the Window List,
* arrange text, WPS and Java windows by center of the screen,
* hold "Num Lock" always "ON" or "OFF",
* ...and more.
This Enhancer is very stable and fully compatible with other software. I use
it day by day and think that this is a great "run-time" Fix for OS/2 Warp!

IBM has now put out a couple of updates for various FixPak 14 problems. It is

The file is krnl0809.zip, and the readme is krnl0809.txt.
(There is also a KRND0809.ZIP ~KRND0809.TXT; according to KRND0809.TXT, it says
this is "the half strict debug Kernel", whatever IBM means by "half
strict").
IBM has released a second kernel postfix, KRNL0807.ZIP, for FixPak #14.
This postfix contains fixes to APAR JR14866 (hang at the beginning of the boot
process with the white blob still showing), PJ27341 (hangs, traps, and application
problems using the DosQProcStatus/DosQuerySysState APIs), and JR14875 (trap/IPE
on boot with pre-pentium systems).

Zeryx Software, developers of the upcoming ZXMAIL have released the following
news:
08 August 2000 ZxMail is still in development, delays have resulted from demand
in consulting work, release of the Beta has been pushed to the fall. New objects
have been created for Vispro Rexx I am having difficulty with the header given by
vispro with their toolkit the problem makes it impossible to use in Vispro C and
C++, until I get a better response from Vispro I cannot implement it in Vispro C
(but no problem for Vispro Rexx). The new object is an advanced button, when the
cursor passes over it, it changes aspect and image (aka netscape) you can make it
appears flat, or raised or sunken, you can also set the picture to change when flown
over. The object is written and working but I need to write the help and debug it
a bit further and create the install program. And I also need to hear from the OS/2
community to see if such such a tool would be needed and get more feedback on the
previous objects, I have heard nothing so far, if the interest is there I will spend
more time on it, If not I will simply no longer release them (I use these tools
for ZxMail, it is written with the help of Vispro C). Thanks in advance. as a follow
on I would integrate a menu bar object with those button, if the interest is there.

IPS is a highly configurable multiprotocol server application allowing you to
create your own ftp, web and/or mail server using your OS/2 or Windows machine.
IPS supports FTP, HTTP, POP3 and SMTP protocols. If you are running a dual OS setup

After a lot of rumours about the product availability it really looks like ISDNPM
3.0 is ready to buy now! For those of you who don't know it, ISDNPM is a very nice
way to connect to the internet if you have an ISDN-Adapter with CAPI 1.1 or NEW:
CAPI 2.0 driver.
Unfortunately there is no way so far to buy this product online but maybe this
will change if more people are interested in it.
If you are interested in ISDNPM I recommend you to subscribe to the mailinglist
at Egroups: http://www.egroups.com/group/isdnpm.
Note that there are "just" users on this list, as far as I know no developers
of ISDNPM. It's a german group but I'm sure they will also support you if you speak
english :-)
I have nothing to do with ISDNPM, I just post this message because other people
might be interested in this great product. Note that I just translated the features
from a german posting in a newsgroup. Maybe the translation is not always correct,
I'm sorry about that ;-)
Some of the new features:
CAPI-Version:
- CAPI 2.0 or CAPI 1.1 support
- IDI-Interface (Diehl)
ISDN-Cards:
- you can connect up to 8 ISDN-Cards with ISDNPM
COM-Ports:
- ISDN can use up to 4 serial ports for modem connection.
NDIS-Interface
- beside the 'sl0' Interface ISDNPM can be used over a LAN-Interface. This simplifies
the use of NETBIOS over TCP/IP
PPP over Ethernet:
- for the use of TDSL ISDNPM can connect to this interface as well over a protocol
device driver.
Client/Server:
ISDNPM is also a very good choice as a dialin server.
Protocols:
Beside the 'old' protocols like HDLC, X75 and SLIP ISDNPM also supports PPP with
the following features:
- SYNCHRON (ISDN), ASYNCHRON (Modem)
- authentification using PAP, CHAP, MS-CHAP as client and server
- authentification based on the ISDN-callerid
- Dialback client/server
- Multilink, which means dynamic channelbundling depending on the network load
- several types of compression
- dynamic distribution of IP-Adresses out of a POOL
- declaration resp. interpretation of DNS-Adresses
Firewall:
You can define complex rules for each IP-connection. There are filters for incoming
packets, outgoing packets and for the control of AUTODIAL
The filter is able to analyze the following information:
- IP-Source, IP-Destination
- Protocoll
- Source-Port, Destination-Port
- ICMP-Type
- TCP-Flags
- Content of data
- date/time (work in progress)
Accounting:
ISDNPM is able to create a detailed report of IP-Traffic. It saves detailled information
of each connection in a LOG-File
Trace:
There are a lot of information available for analyzing connection problems
Controlling:
Beside manual control it's possible to control ISDNPM over a PIPE and a TCP-Socket.
Registration of ISDNPM 3.0 costs 60DM (Deutsche Mark), because the price is very
low it's not possible to buy an update of an old version.
There has been a bug in Configtool 0.95, so it failed to work with Object Rexx,
thanks to users this bug has been detected and corrected. If anybody uses ObjectRexx
and Cfgtool 0.95 fails please download again. The failure is corrected now.
