eBayWatch Ver 1.09r

Hello All,

I have uploaded ver 1.09r to -
http://www.eclipse.net/~knkrchnr

"eBayWatch/2 is an auction management tool for OS/2 users. It works solely with the eBay auction site. It is meant to aid the user in searching for, monitoring and bidding on auction items. eBayWatch/2 is copyright freeware.

Required -
1) partition with long filename support (hpfs/jfs)
2) rexxutil.dll and rxsock.dll in libpath
3) must start from its work directory, or a program object which sets the work directory"

- chg: Clean up some of the junk in text files of auctions

- fix: "Page error" dialog appears during unattended AutoBid

- chg: Stronger error checking during AutoRefresh when connection fails

- fix: Multi bids do not schedule timely

- fix: Error "Title has changed" stops refresh

- fix: "Page Error" warning shows twice for each failed page

- fix: Damaged ini can cause cpu load or program start failure

It is hoped that this will be the final "clean up" for 1.09, and work can start shortly on 1.10.

I have many user requests for features for the upcoming release, more than can be done for the first drop. If you think you would like to vote for a "top 10" or whatever, drop me a note. If I get enough requests for this I'll post a list of the requests and take a poll to at least try to prioritize the feature implementation.

As usual, any feedback of things strange or broken is appreciated.

Thanks,
Ken

RUN! - a helper for helper apps

Recent discussions about the difficulty in starting Mozilla from ProNews/2 and PMMail have prompted me to write RUN! It is now available at: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/run_050.zip
It's final location will probably be:
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/wps/run_050.zip

From the readme:
----
RUN! can eliminate the batch files and config.sys entries often needed to start 'helper-apps' (e.g. opening your web browser from your email client). It sets the current drive, directory, & BeginLibPath to the directory containing the .exe, starts the program, then terminates.

USAGE - if you want to start xyz.exe from MyApp:

- copy run!.exe to xyz's directory
- rename it to xyz!.exe
- update MyApp to have it start xyz!.exe

OPTIONS - insert these options between the '!' and the '.exe'; they are not case-sensitive. For example: xyz!pl.exe

- General:
L - set LIBPATHSTRICT (requires Warp 4.0 Fixpack 13(?) or later)
N - do not close VIO windows when the program terminates
C - use this if command-line parameters aren't passed to the app

- Session Type:
P - PM V - VIO window F - Full screen D - Default overrides the default type for this program (if possible)
----

If you try RUN!, be sure to read the section labelled "Miscellanea" for additional info. Send comments, bug reports, and feature requests to me at the address below.

Like they say, "HTH"...

DFSee 5.55 released, the FINAL 5.xx!

This the FINAL 5.xx release, the next release will be 6.00 expected before the end of the year ...

Some minor updates to the menusystem and a few bug-fixes ...

The menu-system will make using DFSee MUCH easier for the less experienced user, not only because you can simply pick the desired functions from a menu, but also because there is context sensitive help on every menu-item.

Note: Although fairly stable and quite usefull, the menu system in version 5.5x is considered BETA. It will be officially introduced and suported with the upcoming version 6.00.

DFSee is the SWISS-ARMY-KNIFE for disk and filesystem problems. With FDISK-like displays, analysis and recovery, FIX commands, UNDELETE for HPFS/NTFS, imaging and cloning. More details at:

http://www.dfsee.com/dfsee.htm

(and checkout the new series of screenshots there too!)

Direct download links:

http://www.dfsee.com/dfsee/dfsee555.zip
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/disk/dfsee555.zip
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/dfsee555.zip

Most important functional changes since 5.54:

- PTE Fixed all of the checkboxes to be functional again
- MENU CR Fixed trap when just one disabled freespace area
- PART Use 'Disk/Virt' as default diskName prefix, not D/V
- MENU disk/part CLONE items now enabled for virtual disks
- MENU Added confirmation to reboot from the File menu
- CLONE Added -Merge option, skip writing for bad sectors
- QUERY Added several new items for auto-RESIZE preparation
- TxWin Fixed 'shadow-only' no-title minimized windows
- TxWin Fixed trap with

Check DFS*.TXT files for details, all changes listed in DFSHIST.TXT

Registering DFSee will give you the right to use all 5.xx versions and get support plus a reasonable amount of assistance by email.

For the upcoming version 6.xx you will be able to upgrade from version 5.xx and (at a slightly higher cost) from version 4.xx as well.

But even more important, it enables further development of DFSee!

Regards, Jan van Wijk

New kernels (20031103) on IBM testcase FTP site

Download from ftp://testcase.boulder.ibm.com/ps/fromibm/os2/

"This contains fixes since xr_e002/xr_m015/mcp/acp. Important note: If you use the OS/2 SES facility, you need a new sesdd32.sys dated April 2001 or later to use this kernel. Also, a matching dump formatter (df_ret.exe), provided separately, is required, if you want to analyze a dump from this kernel. Finally, note that os2ldr is only required for the >64mb memory detection mentioned below."

As always these are not officially supported by IBM unless they tell you to use them.

**** Please send any followup to comp.os.os2.bugs on usenet. ****

Also note that files are only on IBM's testcase for 2-3 days, so if you want to try these get them now. Make certain you back up any files replaced and don't try these on a production system. Read any readme file before applying any changes. If your system is working well, and you have no problems addressed by these updates, do yourself a favour and don't mess with this. You have been warned.

The UNI and SMP files are for WSeB/ACP/eCS Pro (SMP kernel) and the W4 files are for post FP15/MCP versions, including eComStation. Only use the SMP kernel on a machine with more then one CPU.

Here are the latest changes in this version, as posted in the readme file. (See the Readme for a complete listing):

Fixes to problems that exist in released code:

20031031 14.096b
- CLOSEFILES= back in
- fix 2 traps in w_DupHandle
PJ29472: process hangs (and other things?) if named pipe handle is closed while another thread is blocked in DosConnectNmPipe. Seems to affect Netfinity remote access.
JR19236 trap 000c in w_NewSize during procdump processing
20031103 14.096c
- incorrect parameters being reported in some devhelp system traces

New weekly Odin build

There is a new weekly Odin build available:

Weekly: ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/odin/Weekly/

"Odin is the name of the project and software that allows users to run Win32 (Windows 95 and Windows NT) applications in OS/2 Warp operating system natively, almost as if they were intended to be OS/2 applications in the first place. It also makes porting from Win32 to OS/2 easier by providing a Win32 API implementation in OS/2: the Odin32 API."
