In answer to Christian Hennecke's article Writing articles with NVU, Peter Weilbacher, porter of NVU, wrote:
Regarding the NVU article: Extensions and themes are best installed via drag & drop to the dialog of the extension/theme manager. That way, adjusting *.xpi to * or *xpi is not required.

Not only had Peter Weilbacher something to add to the NVU article, he also found a bug in our build script and commented on the new design:
Wow, looks really spiffy and modern. Thank you very much for your work. Alas, I just don't have the time to read it all.
Two notes:
- Generally: Not that I would want to start using it, but the e-mail links at the bottom of the articles always contain "mailto: &" instead of the correct address in the INF version.
