Warpstock Europe 2005, the event for OS/2 and eComStation users in Europe,
will take place in the city of Dresden, Germany. The three day event will
be held from November 18th to 20th at the Leibniz Institute for Solid
State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW).

The Warpstock Europe 2005 event team has created an online shop that sells
merchandising articles. The shop was created in the Spreadshirt online
shopping system. Spreadshirt is a company that has specialized in creating
such articles on demand for each order. Spreadshirt is responsible for the
quality and creation of the articles and also for sending them out. If you
have any issues with the products, please contact Spreadshirt.

Currently, you can buy four items in different versions in the shop. There
is a bag and a mouse pad. There are two kinds of T-Shirts with different
designs. And finally, there is cute teddy bear. Please have a look at the
following URL to learn more about the online shop:

2005-08-16

++ From the VOICE OS/2-eComStation News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Tom Brown

The next meeting of the Southern California OS/2 User Group (SCOUG) will
be: Saturday, August 20, 2005 9:30 AM - 1 PM

The topic is All Things Mozilla!

If the planets align properly, Steven Levine has promised to show us all
the new stuff in the latest release of the Mozilla suite at our August
meeting.

Beware, however, that Peter Skye is preparing to commandeer the meeting
(but only for a little while)! Next month we celebrate SCOUG's 12th year,
and Peter wants to get things moving. Got ideas? Bring them to SCOUG!

Not to be outdone, Greg Smith and the Programming SIG will push on with
instruction on how to port C programs from other platforms to OS/2 using
Watcom and GCC.

Always coffee and donuts. And lively discussion. (Peter will help see to
that.) Come to SCOUG!

Room 326 of the Eastside Christian School
at the Grace Ministries Complex
1645 W Valencia Dr. in Fullerton

Check the SCOUG site for specific directions and a link to a map:

From: dwhawkDESPAM@DESPAMintcon.net (Posted on: ecomstation.apps)

This program is intended to print program listings on HP DeskJet or
LazerJet printers. It should work with any HP printer that supports PCL
5. It sets the printer to print 16.5 characters per inch and sends a
reset to the printer when it is finished.

The program accepts multiple file names and wildcards.

The program prints a header at the top of each page and line numbers for
each source line. The program provides does line wrap of lines over 119
characters and can do multiple wraps if the source line is very long. If
the source line is wrapped, the line number is not incremented. If line 10
is wrapped three times, there will be three lines labeled 0010.

Currently, the only option is /F to send the output to a file called
testprn in the current directory. This allows the user to see what would
be sent to the printer without using ink or paper.

Please let me know if this program works with your HP printer and the
model number of your printer. If you have suggestions for program

djprint version 0.23

This program is intended to print program listings on HP DeskJet or
LazerJet printers. It should work with any HP printer that supports PCL
5. It sets the printer to print 16.5 characters per inch and sends a
reset to the printer when it is finished.

The program prints a header at the top of each page and defaults to
printing line numbers for each source line. The program does line wrap
of lines over 119 characters and can do multiple wraps if the source line
is very long. If the source line is wrapped, the line number is not
incremented. If line 10 is wrapped three times, there will be three lines
labeled 0010.

Options:

The /R option sends a reset to the printer before printing");
The /F option causes the output to be sent to the file testprn
The /Hxx option starts the printing with line xx ");
The /Txx option ends the printing with line xx ");
The /N option stops the printing of line numbers");
The /S option puts the printer in 8 lpi mode - 77 lines per page
The /L option puts the printer in landscape mode - 155 char per line

The /F option sends the output to a file called testprn in the current
directory. This allows the user to see what would be sent to the printer
without using ink or paper.

Please let me know if this program works with your HP printer and the
model number of your printer. If you have suggestions for program

SW: PM123 version 1.31b4 Has Been Released

2005-08-20

++ From the VOICE OS/2-eComStation News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: "Sander Nyman"<2sanderDESPAM@DESPAMsbcglobal.net>

PM123 version 1.31b4 has been released, and is available at:

ftp://ftp.ptv.ru/pub/glass/pm123/pm123-1_31_beta_4.zip

PM123 is an excellent open source PM based digital audio player for OS/2.
It plays MP3s, WAV-files and audio CDs. PM123 supports skins, audio
streaming, plugins, visualization and more!

Originally developed by Samuel Audet, it is being maintained by Dmitry
Steklenev. Thanks Dmitry!!

You can find more information on PM123 here:
http://sektori.com/pm123/index.php

New since version 1.30:

- It's now possible to stop use of the playlist after beginning it's use.
- Duplicate items will not be added to the lists of recent files. -
Playing of a file does not stop if this file is removed from the playlist
and the player is not in a mode of use of this playlist. - The playlist
window doesn't close when using alt-f4 to close the ID3 tag editor. - The
name of the loaded playlist file is displayed in the title of the playlist
window. - Added ID3 tag charset conversion.

CDDAPLAY:
- The FreeDB online search now can be turned off.
- GUI is not freezed while getting the servers-list.
- If the CD disk is not found in the FreeDB, this negative hit is cached
up at restart of the program.

ANALYZER:
- Fixed the minimal value of update frequency and percent of spectrum
display. Zero values caused crash of the program. - The spectrum analyzer
uses new FFT library and works more accurately. - Added the new display
mode with thick bars and using a logarithmic scale of frequencies.

MPG123:
- The MP3 decoder does not stop at playing some broken files.

REALEQ:
- New presets are used immediately after loading an equalizer from a file.
- If the "zero" has been pressed then the current preset will not be
loaded after restart of the program.

Sander Nyman

The Wyndham Harrisburg-Hershey Hotel, the site for the 2005 Warpstock,
still has some limited availability of rooms on the Wednesday before and
particularly Sunday night after the event. If you are planning to attend
we recommend getting your reservations in now if you are in need of a room
these nights. The hotel expects to be full for the weekend, so it would
be a good idea to make reservations now if you haven't already done so.
The Warpstock special rate of $99 Double/Single are guaranteed for the
assigned block of rooms only until September 22nd at 12:00 midnight.
Please make reservations as early as possible to make sure you have the
rooms you need. If you are driving the hotel provides free parking for
quests.

To make reservations you can call the Wyndham 800 reservation number:
1-877-999-3223 (toll free reservation) or outside U.S./Canda

various benefits such as free, in-room High Speed internet access. There
is no advantage to Warpstock for you to do this, we are just advising you

outrageous expense there are no plans to provide free internet availablity
in the exhibit area as we have done in the past.

I think that I have found most of the bugs and added most of the options
that people have suggested.

The /R option sends a reset to the printer before printing
The /F option causes the output to be sent to the file testprn
The /Hxx option starts the printing with line xx
The /Txx option ends the printing with line xx
The /N option stops the printing of line numbers
The /S option puts the printer in 8 lpi mode - 77 lines per page
The /L option puts the printer in landscape mode - 155 char per line
The /PA option sets the paper size to A4 (210x297 mm)
The /PL option sets the paper size to legal (8x14 in)
The /W option adds a name or comment to the header on page 1
for example: /w"Don Hawkinson" or /W"windows IS a virus!"
The /B option goes to a new page afer a user specified string is found
for example: /b"page break" or /W"new page"

The /W and /B options only require the quotes if the text includes a
space.

From: madodelDESPAM@DESPAMptdprolog.net

The following appears to be a very serious, and apparently Windows/IE only
exploit.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4173218.stm

ID theft spyware scam uncovered
By Mark Ward
Technology Correspondent, BBC News website

Accounts at 50 banks are in danger of being plundered

Thousands of computer users have been caught out by a huge ID theft ring.

Security firm Sunbelt Software said it stumbled across a US-based server
storing megabytes of data stolen from compromised computers while
researching spyware infections.

The server held passwords for online accounts from 50 banks, Ebay and
Paypal logins, hundreds of credit card numbers and reams of personal data.

The FBI has reportedly now started investigating the ring of ID thieves.

Hidden data

The bug that has stolen all the data is thought to be a variant of a
family of trojans known as Dumaru or Nibu that exploit a vulnerability in
Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser.
