2005-10-24 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eComStation News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Andy Willis Warpstock 2005 has now successfully passed into history. NOW is the time to look into the future toward Warpstock 2006, the tenth annual Warpstock. The Board of Directors of Warpstock, Inc. is now accepting bids from groups wishing to host Warpstock 2006. The challenge for the Warpstock Board is to be able to announce the location of Warpstock 2006 in the not too distant future. Teams wishing to bid on hosting Warpstock 2006 should submit an e-mail letter of their **intent** to host this event to the Board of Directors at bidsDESPAM@DESPAMwarpstock.org as soon as possible, but not later than December 1, 2005. This letter of intent does not have to include all of the details of Warpstock 2006, but needs to indicate the location for the event, the suggested dates, format, and a commitment from the local group to put forth the effort needed to stage the event. The initial Event Team needs only a couple of members to start the process and can add additional members as necessary as it gets closer to the event date. The Board has provided the "Bid Proposal Process" to assist all interested parties. The Bid Proposal Process is available immediately at: http://www.warpstock.org/about/bid_proposal.html. Members of the Board of Directors, who are all members of past Event Teams, will be available to assist the Teams throughout the entire bid process, including final site selection. Now is the time to start! Let's make Warpstock 2006 the best Warpstock yet! Warpstock, Inc., is a North Carolina corporation. The Warpstock annual conference is a gathering of OS/2 users, developers, and vendors from around the world for the purpose of education and advocacy. More information is available at the Warpstock web site: <http://www.warpstock.org> Top

2005-10-29 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eComStation News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: "Sander Nyman" Paul Caron's Electronic Teller 4.3 has been released. Electronic Teller is a native OS/2 - eCS personal finance program with an elegant, modern user interface. It handles bank, credit card, cash, asset, liability, and investment accounts, which are grouped within portfolios. WPS integration includes drag-and-drop and object launching. ET is VERY well thought out, extremely fast, configurable, and very stable. It is remarkably intuitive for a financial program, although it offers extensive help, and documentation. ET has "Advanced balance forecasting". Why wait to be depressed about future debt and poverty, when you can forecast it NOW. Reporting capabilities are extensive. It also utilizes Blowfish encryption, for the age of identity theft. And yes, it does have a QIF Converter, so importing/exporting data is possible. International language support includes US and UK English, Dutch, French, German, Portuguese, Spanish. New in this version: - Added ability to fetch a stock quote from http://finance.yahoo.com directly from the Trade dialog in the Investment utility. - Added Investment Symbol look up abilities to Investment creation dialog. - Forecast has been greatly enhanced. - Transactions dialog has been improved to display more items in the preview container. - Account Book and other utilities have been visually enhanced. - Added a "Double-click for simple addition" entry to the Account Book to enable users to create a single transaction quickly. - Popup calendar has been redesigned and is easier to use. - Navigation buttons in the Investment dialog have been added. - Added three new options to the Blowfish encryption dialog. - Added ability to fetch a stock quote from http://finance.yahoo.com directly from the Trade dialog in the Investment utility. - AND MUCH MORE... There is an OS/2 eZine review of ET from March 2003 (NOTE: Many features and improvements have been added since this review) here: http://www.os2ezine.com/20030316/page_3.html For a more complete description of features, and screenshots: http://home.cybrnet.net/~phcaron/ You can download ET here if your quick: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/et430.zip After Hobbes processes incoming files it will be here: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=et430.zip ET is also available from BMT Micro (NOTE: this latest version probably will not be on their web site until next week): ftp://ftp.bmtmicro.com/bmtmicro/et430.zip Paul Caron can be contacted at: os2toolsDESPAM@DESPAMyahoo.ca Regards, Sander -- ----------------------------------------------------------- "Sander Nyman" ----------------------------------------------------------- Two roads diverged in a wood, and I . . .
