2006-09-08 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Warpstock Europe It gives the organizers of this years community event great pleasure to announce that the first speakers have signed up and we have settled the first couple of presentations. Peter Koller, Christian Hennecke and Dave Saville were the first to knock at the doors, followed by Andreas Schnellbacher, Eugene Gorbunoff and fellows from the eCoSoft team. Adrian Gschwend (netlabs) will be onsite with at least one session and Chuck McKinnis will even cross the Atlantic to give us the pleasure of two presentations. More details are available on the event website at www.warpstock.eu Yesterday, Team OS/2 Germany also committed its presence at Cologne, coupled with sessions yet to be announced and - many thanks - various onsite helpers to ensure a smooth organisation of the event. Team Ruhr, Team Trier and Team Hamburg will have booths in the user groups room. The overall "international" character of the event at this very early stage of planning is already impressive: So far, we have people coming here from countries like Sweden, Spain, UK, France, Russia, Ukraina, USA, The Netherlands, Switzerland (and Germany of course). We have updated the event website with information about the rooms at the Youth Hostel, registration information for visitors planning to stay the youth hostel and travellers by air plane (a minor update about train ticket machines at the Cologne airport). Nevertheless, we are still open for suggestions and offerings for sessions. Use the website contacts page to tell us what you have to say or show to the community. And if you ever wondered what certain people look like - the developers of your favorite piece of software - why not come to Cologne and have chat with them? Meet fellow warpers in person, get the latest news about the present and future of the operating systems of your choice, get onsite trobleshooting for your problems and see that everything is far from being so-called dead. By the way: If you're not tuned much into computers and just need to come to Cologne because your husband or wife is busy "warping" around at the Youth Hostel, Cologne offers great shopping, sightseeing and entertainment facilities. :-) Looking forward to see you in Cologne! 2006-09-09 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Alex Taylor (Posted on comp.os.os2.announce) My OS/2 Unicode API documentation has been updated (September 2nd). http://www.cs-club.org/~alex/os2/toolkits/uls/index.html There have been many corrections and other improvements made since the initial release in July; see the website for a complete history. This release has two major changes worth noting. * The Unicode Keyboard functions have been added (or rather, restored) to the API reference. * I have released an initial draft of a Programming Guide, which describes the Unicode APIs and how they can be used. This may be downloaded in INF format; IPF source is included. Top

2006-09-13 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Andy Willis Warpstock 2006 is rapidly approaching. 7 days to reserve your hotel accommodation. We have a cutoff date coming up soon. The hotel has agreed to hold our room block until September 20th, 2006 at the special conference rate of $115 CAD (Canadian dollars). After that date, any unbooked rooms will be released for general sale. All requests received after this date will be handled on a space and rate availability basis. This could leave you paying a much higher rate for the same room. Warpstock needs to meet a certain number of room nights or we will be forced to pay a penalty. By booking your room through Warpstock, you help keep the costs of Warpstock manageable. 2006-09-14 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: richDESPAM@DESPAMe-vertise.com Cameraderie is a GUI downloader for your PTP-based digital camera (e.g. Canon, Kodak, etc). With Cameraderie, it's easy to organize your photos while they're still on your camera and fresh in your mind. Thanks to its Groups feature, renaming a photo and saving it into a directory with similar pictures requires little more than the click of a button. While Cameraderie offers features that should make saving your photos easy, it doesn't require you to use any of them. Similarly, it offers a lot of info about each picture, but doesn't force you to view any of it. You can hide columns which don't interest you and rearrange the ones you want to see. Cameraderie supports cameras that use PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) and connect via USB (v1.1 & v2.0). It can be used in English or German (thanks to Franz Bakan), and is easy to translate into other languages - no toolkits or technical skills required. Cameraderie is open-source and is released under the Mozilla Public License. You can get Cameraderie from hobbes: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=camera10.zip or directly from my site: http://e-vertise.com/misc/camera10.zip You can also obtain the source code from: http://e-vertise.com/misc/camera10-src.zip Top
