2006-01-02 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: kimDESPAM@DESPAMfoder.dk Happy new year everyone ! Today I have released WhatsOn RC 1. In this version a couple of errors has been corrected, and a single new feature has been added. There still are some known problems, I hope to have them corrected soon. See read.me for more information. For those who don't know : This game is highly inspired by the old DOS game Sherlock. The game is one of logic deduction, and are (at least in the original version) very addictive ! It is highly inspired by the old DOS game Sherlock. 2006-01-05 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Heiko Nitzsche, Posted on comp.os.os2.announce A new release of the often used GBM library is available on Hobbes in both, binaries and source. http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/gbmos2pm121_gbm132_bin.zip http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/gbmos2pm121_gbm132_src.zip It will later move to: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/apps/graphics/gbmos2pm121_gbm132_bin.zip http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/apps/graphics/gbmos2pm121_gbm132_src.zip Changes compared to release 1.31: --------------------------------- GBMDLG (GBM File Dialog) * Redesign to match standard file dialog (eComStation) * Add bitmap preview GBM.DLL 1.32 * TIF support: - Update to Libtiff 3.7.4 - Fix decoding of separated RGB tiffs - Fix decoding of non-separated CMYK tiffs (8/16 bits per channel) GBM command line tools * gbmver.exe added It shows the detected gbm.dll (including its path) and the lib revision. I hope this simplifies solving DLL version issues. You can replace GBM.DLL and GBMDLG.DLL used by the usual apps (Mesa, GBMV2, ...). The libs are fully backward compatible. Be careful with the gbm.dll part of the Lotus Smartsuite directory tree. This must NOT be replaced with this lib! As the new bitmap preview feature in the GBM file dialog requires quite a bit of processing power, users with less good equipped hardware should stick with the previous dialog. Have fun Heiko Nitzsche Top
2006-01-07 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Paul Smedley Now available from http://smedley.info/os2ports.html Openldap v2.3.15 compiled for OS/2 & eComStation with Innotek GCC v3.3.5 GA version. [Moderator note: The web site for OpenLDAP is http://www.openldap.org/ "OpenLDAP is a suite of LDAP clients, servers, utilities and developer tools"] Requires libc06.dll from ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/gcc/libc-0.6.0-ga2.zip **This has only had very limited testing so all feedback to paulDESPAM@DESPAMsmedley.info is appreciated** Note: Under unix, symbolic links of slapd are made in ./sbin to create the various slapd utilities (ie slapadd, slapcat, slapdn, slapindex, slappasswd, slaptest, slapauth, slapacl). As we don't have symbolic links, I haven't included the slapd utilities, but have included a script 'makeutils.cmd' in \openldap to make the necessary copies of slapd.exe with the appropriate names. Known issues: - only supported database type in slapd.conf is ldbm - bdb will not work. - slapd utils in .\openldap\sbin are large - future release is planned to use a dll to reduce package size - no threading support due to lack of full pthreads implementation for libc. Cheers, Paul Smedley Adelaide, Australia 7th January, 2006. Top

2006-01-07 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Marty Mr. Message for OS/2 is an instant messenger client which is capable of communicating over AOL's Instant Messenger network using the OSCAR protocol (used in the Win32 AIM clients, jBuddy, gAIM, Kopete, ICQ, and a variety of other clients). It has been updated with the following changes: * Fixed support for 16-bit legacy TCP/IP stack as well as the 32-bit stack. Networking should be reliable now. * Hacked to allow communications with invisible users if they initiate the conversation. Note that their status will probably not be updated correctly, but it will allow you to send and receive messages from them. To download, please visit the official Mr. Message web page: http://mamodeo.dyndns.org/MrMessage This is the final release of Mr. Message since I am now working on a full port of Gaim (which will cover all of the functionality of Mr. Message and a whole lot more, including multiple protocols such as Jabber, Yahoo, and MSN to name a few). If a fix request for Mr. Message is simple enough, I will do it. But if it takes too much time, I'd rather devote the time to the Gaim port. Top
