It's now available from http://smedley.info/os2ports.html Due to build issues, support for curl and also the cgi version of php are not included. 2006-01-16 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eComStation News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: "Sander Nyman"<2sanderDESPAM@DESPAMsbcglobal.net> In my original Thunderbird 1.5 release announcement I included a link for the migration utility from Peter Moylan which allows you to copy BOTH mail and address books from PMMail to Thunderbird. Peter was kind enough to update that utility a few days ago. That file is currently at: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/pmm_tbird.zip Since my original post, I have also received a few emails (thank you) regarding another utility by David W. Eckman, also available on Hobbes. It appears however that it is limited to copying only mail from PMMail to Thunderbird. 2006-01-19 Happy New Year to everyone. 2006 and we are still able to buy and use our favorite computer operating system thanks to Serenity Systems, if we choose to. :-) Just a reminder if you are posting to the VOICE News list, please either use the web form on http://www.os2voice.org/fSubNews.html or directly via email to submit@os2voice.org Sending a post directly to one of the moderators may result in it being delayed or lost. I have just learned that for some unknown reason posts submitted using the news submission form on OS/2 World.com are not coming through, so if you use that form at least for now please send a separate post if you want it to appear on VOICE as well. I will let the list know when this is corrected. As always if you are submitting an announcement try to make it as brief as possible, but with basic information like a description of the item and a URL where more information can be found as well as a URL where it can be downloaded if it is software. Also if its an update please list what has been changed if you know it. If you are a developer don't just upload your work to hobbes or your own web site and forget it. Write a short announcement and send it to VOICE so the OS/2-eComStation community can know what you have done and what the software is capable of doing. Posting the announcement on comp.os.os2.announce would be helpful as well since some people still read the OS/2 Usenet groups even if they don't post because of all the attacks from the psycho-trolls. As to the list itself, we start the year with 723 subscribers. Currently there are few rejections and almost all are of a temporary nature. One that I'd like to remove if possible is from: andreas@aro.homeip.net But there is no one with that address subscribed to the list. If you recognize this address and know what address may be redirecting to it I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks for reading and I hope you continue to find our announcements of interest. 2006-01-20 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Tom Brown OK, here it is, the SCOUG meeting agenda for January, 2006! We are going to start 2006 off with a bit of this and a bit of that. Last month Allen Hecht described how he developed his web applications on eCS/OS2 using Apache, PHP and MySQL. This month we are going to see the applications in action. Also this month, at the request of the membership, we are going to have the first General Meeting Live Help Desk of 2006. Bring your troubled eCS/OS2 systems and SCOUG's resident experts will do their best to make them right. If you are going to bring a system, please let Steven Levine know so that we can be sure to have sufficient experts available. There's more! Sheridan George decided he was tired of running eCS/OS2 on computers with plain old, everyday disk drives, so he built one with only a solid state disk. As of today, this is still an experiment in progress, but he's going to show us what he's got at the meeting. If necessary, the General Meeting Live Help Desk will have another patient. Finally, along with all this fun, we are going to make time to have a raffle. Larry Tawa has been collecting goodies and just can't wait any longer to raffle them off. As a teaser, we have a Coming Attraction. Jerry Rash always seems to have absolutely no trouble finding interesting pieces of hardware to play with. This time it's USB cameras. He'll soon be showing us the results of some of his recent lab experiments. But don't wait for Jerry. Come to our January meeting! As usual, the meeting will be from 9:30 AM to 1 PM at: Room 326 of the Eastside Christian School at the Grace Ministries Complex 1645 W Valencia Dr. in Fullerton See: http://www.scoug.com/meetings.html for links to a map and directions. 2006-01-21 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ [Moderator note: The following was posted to news://number1.nntp.dca.giganews.com/netscape.public.mozilla.os2 on January 18th. It appears that the changeover is now completed. ] From: Dave Miller It should be no secret these days that the Mozilla Foundation and its related projects are no longer a pet project of Netscape, yet the newsgroups we are using for public discussions still bear the Netscape name. We've been planning for years to move from netscape.public.mozilla.* to just mozilla.*, and the time has finally come! In August, we announced a partnership with Giganews Newsgroups (http://www.giganews.com/) to provide NNTP services for our news.mozilla.org domain. It's taken a few months of planning to make it happen, but we're now in the process of moving all of those newsgroups over to the new hierarchy. For general information and frequently asked questions about the move to the new news and list servers, see http://www.mozilla.org/community/giganews-migration.html This group will be moving to a new newsgroup and new mailing list: Old newsgroup: netscape.public.mozilla.os2 New newsgroup: mozilla.dev.ports.os2 Old mailing list: mozilla-os2@mozilla.org New mailing list: dev-ports-os2@lists.mozilla.org When is it moving? This group will be moving sometime later this evening (Wednesday, January 18). I apoligize for the short notice, I wound up having to compress the schedule somewhat. What do you need to do to maintain your subscriptions? If you read this newsgroup via NNTP, you will need to change your subscriptions manually after today to point at mozilla.dev.ports.os2. Please note that at this time, these newsgroups will NOT be propagated to Usenet in general, so you must be using news.mozilla.org to access them (see the FAQ link near the top of this message). If you read this list via the email list, your subscription will automatically be moved for you to the new mailing list. You may need to adjust your mail filters if you filter your list mail. If you have any questions that aren't answered here, and aren't answered in the above FAQ, please ask in the mozilla.dev.mozilla-org newsgroup or on the dev-mozilla-org@lists.mozilla.org mailing list (https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/dev-mozilla-org) Top
