2007-02-17 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: richDESPAM@DESPAMe-vertise.com Cameraderie v1.2 is a GUI organizer & downloader for your PTP digital camera (e.g. Canon, Kodak, etc). Instead of dumping a bunch of files in some directory and leaving you to sort out the mess, Cameraderie gives you the tools to view, organize, and rename your photos before they hit your disk. In most cases, you can rename a group of photos and designate the folder to save them in by clicking a single button. It's quicker & easier than any file-based GUI app or commandline tool. With v1.2, Cameraderie makes another task quicker & easier: viewing and saving your photos "right-side up". It uses a photo's Exif info to determines the correct orientation, then saves it using "Lossless JPEG Rotation" to ensure the picture's quality remains unchanged. v1.2 also adds a "save-by-date" feature for those who prefer to file their photos by date rather than subject matter; and a "Camera Info" dialog that provides some basic details about your camera. Cameraderie supports cameras that use PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) and connect via USB (v1.1 & v2.0). It can be used in English, German, Dutch. & French, and is easy to translate into other languages. The program is open-source and released under the Mozilla Public License. You can get Cameraderie from hobbes: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=camera12.zip or directly from my site: http://e-vertise.com/misc/camera12.zip You can also obtain the source code from: http://e-vertise.com/misc/camera12-src.zip Top

The workshop will be held in the beautiful city of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on the weekend of 7th and 8th July 2007. The workshop is targeted at developers that create software and drivers for OS/2 or eComStation. The details have yet to be finalized and this is the first public announcement. The workshop follows the tradition of organizing an event for developers once every year. Last years workshop was held in Biel, Switzerland and the first workshop was held in 2005 in Dresden, Germany. 2007-02-19 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Stan Pokorney Cellular Automata Animator v1.1, also known as DrLife is a 1d and 2d cellular automata engine to run C.A. patterns as large as 1000x1000 cells. New in this version is Object Rexx support (Drlifeo.exe). Patterns for C.A.'s can be in Life1.05, run length encoded (RLE), or ascii formats. Patterns can be modified before being run, and can be selected from the following sources: A file, a pattern stored as a string of 0 & 1's, or a pattern entered from the keyboard. While running the pattern, you can pause and single-step the execution. Large patterns greater than 62,000 cells can be viewed in sections which are selectable by marquee mouse marking the pattern graphic. All Life-like rules, and many non-life like rules can be run. Binary 1d rules with radius 1 and 2 are supported. Cell neighborhoods of 8, 9, 4 and 5 cells are built into the program. Other cell neighborhoods can be defined in a config file. A number of public patterns are included. Source code for use with DrDialog is included. 2007-02-19 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Jan van Wijk DFSee 8.11 has just been released with some nice enhancements! You can finally create JFS volumes now completely within DFSee, no need for additional work with the regular LVM program. Much better 'removable' and 'large floppy' display and handling, including a FAT FORMAT that can create bootable OS/2 USB sticks. The latter requires a minimum OS/2 system copied too of course, and compatible hardware :-) Thanks to Rainer Stroebel for much research, and creating the eCS-OS/2-USB-Boot WIKI in progress at: http://p2066.typo3server.info/wiki-usb-boot-en.html See point 6.3.2 specifically, I created a bootable eCS stick with that today that boots to a command prompt and DFSee ... (but several attempts with others sticks failed) DFSee is a very powerful disk-utility with disk partitioning, filesystem and disk analysis, file recovery, UNDELETE for HPFS JFS, and NTFS, resizing, imaging, cloning and sector editing.
