2006-12-01 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Paul Smedley Hi All, Just wanted to let people know that there is a new home for the OS/2 port of CUPS (Common Unix Printing System). This is http://svn.netlabs.org/ecups The site contains details on where we are headed with improving the printing support in eComStation. To see what printers are potentially supported, go to http://www.linuxprinting.org - printers mentioned as working with CUPS or Gutenprint should be supported. To support the project, it is really important to test out my cups build that was announced earlier this week. The readme contains step by step instructions on how to add a printer. Whilst this process is currently a little cumbersome, this will be improved - what we need to do is to confirm the basics are working and iron out any problems before building the relevant frontends to beautify things. Thanks, Paul. Top
2006-12-02 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Adrian Gschwend Dear community, A few days ago we sent out a request to gather money for a new webserver at netlabs.org. The goal was to reach 2000 Euro as soon as possible to make sure we can start to do the migration of the CMS the next weeks. We couldn't believe it ourself but we had the 2000 Euro in less than 24 hours! This is for sure a great motivation for all of us, thanks a lot to every single one who contributed! We will most probably order the hardware next week and start the migration shortly afterwards. We will keep you informed about the next steps! In case you did want to contribute but you didn't had the chance now, don't worry. You can still buy sponsoring units at Mensys which help us paying the salaries for the programmers at netlabs.org, which is highly appreciated as well. We try to make that more professional and transparent in the next year, more about that as soon as the new pages are up and running. Meanwhile you can sponsor us here: http://www.mensys.net/Netlabs/ http://www.mensys.net/WarpVision/ http://www.mensys.net/Uniaud/ The money goes in any case to netlabs.org but like this you can still sponsor a specific project if you like. Both Uniaud and WarpVision should get some quality improvements the next weeks, we work on a new build and release-management system for both projects together with Christian Langanke so it will get easier to contribute to any of the projects in the future.
