2007-07-16 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Roderick Klein On the 23rd of July and a maximum of 2 days after that date you may have difficulty reaching ecomstation.com and Mensys related webservices. This occurs since Mensys has to reconfigure its IP addresses and it takes time for these new IP addresses to propagate over the internet. Our sincere apologies in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. Best regards, Mensys/Serenity team. Top
2007-07-17 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Dave Yeo Hi, I've built and uploaded to Hobbes http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=coreutils the GNU coreutils ver 5.93. The core utils are the union of the GNU fileutils, sh-utils, and textutils packages. Hobbes incoming link: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/coreutils_5.93.zip This is just a quick build with no source changes using GCC 3.3.5 so libc063.dll is required. Most programs seem to work though things like cp.exe and mv.exe have no EA support. I repeat copying and moving files with this build will result in lost EAs. Of interest is the ln.exe command for creating symlinks. Any program built with klibc ver6+ and using the built in functions should work with symlinks. Though of course no promises and the only guarantee is that these programs are untested and may not work as advertised or at all. Dave Yeo Top
2007-07-17 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Roland Schmalenberg Hi folks, yesterday the TYPO3-team released TYPO3 version 4.1.2 and 4.0.7 with some bugfixes, improved code quality and debugging mode for user generated SQL queries. I've got the time to change my script today and have finished the tests, so a new version for getting TYPO3 to run on base of OS/2 or eComStation known as "TYPO3 goes eComStation" is out, too. What is TYPO3? -------------- For those people not knowing TYPO3 yet it should be mentioned that TYPO3 is a free Open Source Web Content Management System, released under GPL. More informations can be found at http://typo3.com/ or for developers at http://typo3.org/ Where to get, what to need? --------------------------- You are able to download the script package from the home of "TYPO3 goes eComStation", http://os4you.org/typo3goesecomstation.html All you need to run is a working OAMP or AMP4eCS (OS/2+Apache+MySQL+PHP, WPI available from http://www.amp4ecs.de/ ), my package and time to study ;-) Hint for TYPO3-Beginners ------------------------ Those who want to use that CMS with OS/2 or eComStation the first time should start with reading our documentation (available in English, Dutch, French and German) for the TYPO3 version 3.8.x (outdated but still available) and examin the quickstart-package. All others will be recommended to use the latest versions ... Yours sincerly Roland Schmalenberg Team TYPO3 goes eComStation (TT3geCS) Top

2007-07-21 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Peter Weilbacher My newest batch of enhanced Mozilla apps - eSeaMonkey 1.1.3 (integrated internet suite, successor of "Mozilla", an enhanced SeaMonkey 1.1.3) - PmW-Fx 2.0.0.5 (internet browser, an enhanced Firefox 2.0.0.5) - PmW-Tb 2.0.0.5 (eMail client, an enhanced Thunderbird 2.0.0.5) are available via http://pmw-warpzilla.sf.net/. Enhancements over the official versions are * SVG and Canvas support * better WPS integration * EA URL tagging of downloads * MNG/JNG support * included ipluginw.dll for plugin support * high memory support * and more All applications need libc062.dll to run, the DLL coming with the libc 0.6.3 package from ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/gcc will work. These releases pick up all the changes and several security fixes done by Mozilla since my Gecko 1.8.1.4 release, i.e. between 30 May 2007 and 21 Jul 2007. Three OS/2 specific changes were done: - Restart problems with PmW-* have now really been resolved - Problems with mouse pointers in PmW-Tb are resolved - The apps now ship with RWS v0.8 instead of RWS v0.7 as before Peter.
