SW: OpenOffice.org 2.0 for eComStation and OS/2 WPS integration package

2007-11-16
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Joachim Benjamins

Serenity Systems International and Mensys BV are pleased to announce the
availability of the WPS integration package for OpenOffice.org 2.0 for
eComStation and OS/2.

This package is available to all subcribers of the OpenOffice.org for
eComStation and OS/2 Support Agreement, via their login at the Mensys
online shop.

** Features **

- Extends the WPS data file class to recognize OpenOffice.org document files
- Integrated support for WPS-Wizard hint and folder info area
- Rexx hooks for reading document properties

** Installation **

The package is provided as a WarpIn package. Installation is performed by a
double click on the base WPI file (OOoWPS100.wpi).

Please note that WarpIn 1.0.15 or higher is required.
You can download the latest WarpIn package from http://warpin.netlabs.org

[ WPS data file class ]

The WPS classes do not require OpenOffice.org to be installed to allow
displaying of properties and preview thumbnail.

OpenOffice.org for eComstation and OS/2 must be installed to allow
drag'n'drop printing and opening of files. Use of the OpenOffice.org
quickstart feature allows faster printing and opening, otherwise a new
instance of the OpenOffice.org binaries will be invoked.

[ WPS-Wizard support ]

If you have installed WPS-Wizard (see below) please select the main
WPS-Wizard installation directory, otherwise scripts cannot be placed in
the proper place.

WPS-Wizard official homepage: http://www.os2world.com/cdwriting/
WPS-Wizard latest info: http://svn.netlabs.org/wps-wizard/

[ REXX hooks ]

See the WPS-Wizard scripts for a sample use of rexx hooks.

** Known issues **

- Objects do not show 'in use' status when opened.

** Support **

Support specific to the eComStation and OS/2 version can be obtained
through the ticketing system at: http://www.ecomstation.com/support/ooo2/

If you find any bugs, issues, or have other remarks, please provide as many
details as possible and attach the soffice.log file created at every OOo2
crash: this file is located into your OpenOffice.org.2.0\program\ directory.

A newsgroup is available for community support at:

news://news.ecomstation.com/ecomstation.support.openoffice
or
http://news.ecomstation.com/thread.php?group=ecomstation.support.openoffice

** More information **

More information on OpenOffice.org can be found at:
http://www.openoffice.org/

Information on the eComStation and OS/2 version can be found at:
http://www.ecomstation.com/openoffice/

** Enjoy! **

Event: SCOUG Mtg of Nov 17 is CANCELLED

2007-11-17
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: Steve Schiffman

SCOUG Members,

The SCOUG meeting on Saturday, November 17th, is cancelled.

This is still correct.

Some of you may have received an e-mail message that Carla Hanzlik sent to
the SCOUG Announce list about not being sure if the SCOUG meeting Saturday
was going to be held. This Announce list message was originally sent
Thursday morning. Because the SCOUG server has been out to lunch for a
number of days, the e-mail was being held somewhere. Only after the SCOUG
server was restarted Friday evening, have the list servers started
processing back-logged messages.

Shortly after Thursday morning, the decision was made to CANCEL the SCOUG
meeting on Saturday, Nov 17th. The meeting is still cancelled for
November. Regular General meetings will resume in December on Dec 15th.

Thanks,

Steve Schiffman

SW: Azureus4eCS 0.1.0 (eComStation and OS/2 only)

2007-11-19
++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++

From: MarkDodel

I was browsing around on Juergen Ulbts' web site and found the following
which might interest some people. A Java based Bittorent application
called Azureus4eCS.

http://www.juergen-ulbts.de/content/projects/ports/index.en.html#azureus4ecs

"With the Azureus4eCS package using SWTSwing, it's possible to use Azureus
v2.5.0.4 on eComStation (eCS) and OS/2.
Azureus is a well known and wide spread P2P client to download files using
the Bittorrent protocol (*.torrent).

The Azureus package includes an installation script to create desktop
icons, start scripts for easy usage and a detailed installation script.
There are also some additional Java Look'n'Feel classes included.

Requirements
* eComStation (eCS) or OS/2
* Golden Code Java 1.4.1 or Innotek Java 1.4.2 Runtime (JRE; normally
shipped with eCS)
Download Innotek Java 1.4.2_09 JRE here!
* Azureus4eCS package (see download information below)"

"Help the SWTSwing development
To help the SWTSwing development you can increase the SWTSwing bounty at
OS2World.com and report bugs. There has already been done some work to get
Eclipse and Azureus working on this platform and there are still some
issues that need to be solved.

From: MarkDodel

I was browsing around on Juergen Ulbts' web site and found the following
which might interest some people. In addition to the Azureus4eCS
aplication I already posted, there is also (among a few other things you
might want to check out), the Eclipse Enabler package.

http://www.juergen-ulbts.de/content/projects/ports/index.en.html#eclipseenabler

"Eclipse Enabler (eComStation and OS/2 only)

With the Eclipse Enabler package using SWTSwing and the Eclipse on Swing
(EOS) plugin, the last Eclipse SDK 3.2.2 (Windows) can be used on
eComStation (eCS) and OS/2.

The Eclipse Enabler package includes an installation script to create
desktop icons, start scripts for easy usage and Eclipse on Swing (EOS)
which includes SWTSwing. There are also some additional Java Look'n'Feel
classes included.

Requirements
* eComStation (eCS) or OS/2

2007-02-12)
Download Eclipse SDK 3.2.2 (Windows) here!

Golden Code Java 1.4.1 doesn't work!
Download Innotek Java 1.4.2_09 JRE here!
* Eclipse Enabler package (see download information below)"
