2008-03-18 From: Dave Yeo Hi, I've uploaded the newest pkg-config to Hobbes, Incoming: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/pkg-config-0.23.zip Search: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?sh=1&button=Search&key=pkg-config Pkg-config is used in *nix build setups to get appropriate CFLAGS, LIBS etc. This version includes an important fix so that PKG_CONFIG_PATH works correctly so if you have an older version you're urged to upgrade. It also can be built from source quite easily, just make sure to pass configure the --without-pc-path setting. Source is available from http://pkgconfig.freedesktop.org/releases/pkg-config-0.23.tar.gz Dave Yeo DaveDESPAMatDESPAM.telus.net Top
2008-03-18 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Mark Dodel "OpenOffice.org is a multiplatform and multilingual office suite and an open-source project." For more general information about this see http://www.openoffice.org There is a developers build of Beta1 of Open Office.org for eCS-OS/2 for those with an active OpenOffice.org Support Agreement for eComStation and OS/2. You have to Login thru the Mensys site ( http://shop.mensys.nl/indexuk.html ) and find it under your Downloads. For more information about the Open Office.org for eComStation and OS/2 Support Agreement see http://www.ecomstation.com/openoffice This Beta is available only in English. This build is based on the 2.4.0 m2 source code of OpenOffice.org which is newer than the general release version available for other platforms which is at 2.3.1, which is why it is listed as a developer Snapshot. From my limited experience with this build, if you already have OO.org 2.0GA installed, this beta installs to a different directory and you can use both, just not at the same time. ** Features ** - Support for XWP/eWPS sliding menu hilite (requires XWorkPlace 1.0.8 or eCS 2.0 RC4) - Support for clipboard bitmap formats and unicode text. - Support for mouse wheel. - Support for WPS integration via seperate package (OOoWPS101.WPI) - FT2: this release supports the FreeType2 font engine for better text rendering. - QUICKSTART: quickstart has been implemented eComStation and OS/2; when enabled in OOo option dialogs, a shadow of your quickstart WPS icon object will be created in the startup folder. - NLS: multiple NLS versions can be installed, you can change the language with: Tools -> Options -> Language settings -> User Interface (Though as noted above, English is currently the only available NLS choice) Requirements for this beta include: WarpIn 1.0.17 (Available on the OOo download page) UniClip (available as uclip-0_2_2-os2.wpi on the OOo download page) LibC 0.6.3 (Available on the Netlabs FTP: ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/libc ) Innotek Font Engine (Included with eComStation 1.2r or newer 400MB disk space See the read1st.txt file for installation instructions as well as any other requirements and known issues. 2008-03-23 From: Paul Smedley Hi All, As many would be aware, over the last month, I've been worked quite heavily on updating the ALSA code that forms the basis of Uniaud's sound support. I've finally reached a point where I have a uniaud32.sys based fully on ALSA 1.0.16 (ie the current release). There are some limitations in the current build, due to various reasons, the following backends are NOT currently included: - cmipci (Various C-Media pci cards) - als4000 - emu10k1 (Soundblaster Live) The builds are currently available from: Release build - http://download.smedley.info/uniaud32-alsa-1.0.16-20080323.zip Debug build - Release build - http://download.smedley.info/uniaud32-alsa-1.0.16-20080323-debug.zip These builds currently show encouraging results on both PCI, AC97 and HDA chipsets. I'm particularly interested in any regressions from 1.1.4RC5. For uniaud16.sys - I recommend the one from Uniaud 1.1.4RC5 (ie from ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/uniaud/uniaud114RC5.zip) All feedback is appreciated! Cheers, Paul. Top
2008-03-23 From: Eugene Gorbunoff Do you sense the comfort when working on eComStation PC? If no then install additional smart widgets to eCenter panel! NeoWPS widgets -- http://ecomstation.ru/neowps (in the bottom of the web-page) * Beer Battery widget -- battery widget for notebooks and servers with UPS. Shows battery level, time remaining. * Master Name widget -- it is useful for those who like to make screenshots of the desktop and keep the signature. * Reactor Temperature widget -- If your eComStation PC is used in a bedroom or dusty office then you should control the temperature of CPU (it is proportional to the dust level). btw, pay attention to other NeoWPS updates: * More screenshots of eComStation -- http://ecomstation.ru/projects/eschemes/eschemes-gallery.phtml * Sunny icons (drag&drop is improved; more icons; better flash disks support) -- http://ecomstation.ru/eschemes-deluxe * eSchemes 1.47 experimental (internal releases) Top
