2008-08-24 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Mark Dodel Yuri Dario has released a new release candidate build 0.94rc1: http://web.os2power.com/yuri/ClamAV "Clam AntiVirus is a GPL anti-virus toolkit for UNIX (and OS/2). The main purpose of this software is the integration with mail servers (attachment scanning). The package provides a flexible and scalable multi-threaded daemon, a command line scanner, and a tool for automatic updating via Internet. The programs are based on a shared library distributed with the Clam AntiVirus package, which you can use with your own software. Most importantly, the virus database is kept up to date. A multithread plugin for InetPowerServer is available, ask for details (not free software)." See the readme at http://web.os2power.com/download/clamav/clamav-0_94rc1_0-os2.txt Additional requirements: * eComStation 1.x,2.x * OS/2 Warp * 32bit tcpip stack * libc 0.6.3 runtime ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/gcc/libc-0.6.3-csd3.wpi * libc pathrewriter ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/gcc/contrib/klibccfg.wpi Top

The date we have chosen for the switchover is September 1st, 2008. We are striving to keep the new interfaces as close to the current Hobbes as we are able. Moving forward will giveus a more stable platform to support Hobbes for many years to come. Pass the word to those who may not see this message. 2008-08-29 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Lewis G Rosenthal For those of you with T60 and T61 machines, in case you were not aware, I host a mailing list specifically dealing with eCS on the T6x models. If you need advice on these units (multiple OS installations, SATA issues, ACPI, networking, audio), you should probably have a look at the web archives of the list and please feel free to subscribe either via feed (individual messages) or daily digest. (Note that we haven't solved all of the issues with these machines as yet, but we are gaining ground. Discussion of related issues - other OSes on these machines, or similar ACPI hardware on other machines is also currently permissible.) As with all other lists hosted by Rosenthal & Rosenthal, LLC, there is no cost, no advertising of any kind, and we do NOT share member addresses with ANYONE. 2008-08-30 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: Jan van Wijk This is a bug-fix release, fixing improper use of decimal versus explicit HEX values in a few menu-items and dialogs. Some other minor changes have been made as well. The distribution now contains a 'profile.dfs' that announces itself at startup, so users are more aware of its existence. The readme file that comes with the ISO download documents how you can use the 'ikey' program to import your own customized 'profile.dfs' into the ISO before burning it. DFSee is a very powerful disk-utility with disk partitioning, filesystem and disk analysis, file recovery, UNDELETE for HPFS, JFS, and NTFS, resizing and smart imaging or cloning.
